The Operations Department is responsible for treating Vallejo's wastewater to the highest standards possible before discharging to the Carquinez Strait. Our highly trained workers operate the Ryder Street Wastewater Treatment Plant 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Operations Department strives to implement the safest and most cost effective means of wastewater treatment, while satisfying the needs of the community.

In addition to wastewater treatment, the Operations Department is responsible for treating the organic matter that is removed in the treatment process. This material commonly known as biosolids is used at a District owned farm to produce crops and improve the conditions of the soil. Utilizing the biosolids in this manner has saved the citizens of Vallejo millions of dollars during the 25 years.
