Screenings and grit
removed during the
primary treatment
process are trucked
to a landfill for
disposal. Sludge
collected during the
primary treatment
process is pumped to
a blending tank and
sludge collected
during the secondary
treatment process is
pumped to gravity
belt thickeners and
then to the blending
tank. |
|
In the blending
tank, the sludge is
then treated with
lime and converted
to a solid "cake"
using belt filter
presses. It is then
trucked to Tubbs
Island where it is
used as a soil
amendment to improve
farmland. This
award-winning
beneficial reuse
program disposes of
20,000 cubic yards
of biosolids per
year.
