Solids Processing Facility

Screenings and grit removed during the primary treatment process are trucked to a landfill for disposal. Sludge collected during the primary treatment process is pumped to a blending tank and sludge collected during the secondary treatment process is pumped to gravity belt thickeners and then to the blending tank.

In the blending tank, the sludge is then treated with lime and converted to a solid "cake" using belt filter presses. It is then trucked to Tubbs Island where it is used as a soil amendment to improve farmland. This award-winning beneficial reuse program disposes of 20,000 cubic yards of biosolids per year.
